Not far from home, I find myself every Fall, wandering the river bottom of the Gallatin River with my camera and paint box. The lengthening shadows of the cottonwoods on this pasture kept me from even getting to the river this day!

I have been wanting to paint a picture of this little cabin for years, so this beautiful "Fall" day, I set up my easel right in the frozen creek bottom, and mostly finished the painting on site! This painting was the inspiration for my studio painting, "When the Storm has Passed".

This day I set up my easel in the shade, right on the "fisherman's path", and painted until the sun had moved and was shining right in my face. Before I could go back another day to try and finish the painting, a snow storm came through and removed most of the leaves!
